Algal Toxicologist

 

The Department of Earth Sciences (www.earthsciences.iupui.edu), Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, is filling a new tenure-track position in aquatic toxicology. The preferred area of expertise is algal toxicology, including controls on algal toxicant production and human health effects of algal toxins, but other areas of aquatic toxicology including biogeochemical transport modeling of emerging contaminants, pharmaceuticals, endocrine disruptors, and virus and bacterial transport will be considered. This position is part of a university-supported initiative in water resources research spearheaded by the Center for Earth and Environmental Sciences (www.cees.iupui.edu) in the School of Science, with participation from the Center for Environmental Health housed in the IU School of Medicine.  

The successful candidate will be part of a team of environmental geoscientists and toxicologists working on cutting-edge detection and health impact studies. Candidate is expected to have an independent research program relating to qualitative and quantitative assessments of exposures to water-borne chemical or biological agents and partnering to assess the associated health effects.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and contingent upon final budgetary approval. Starting date is negotiable depending on candidate availability. Consideration will be given to mid-rank professionals in addition to entry-level candidates.
